How to Quickly Index your New Website and Blog Posts in Google Search Results

It is a good thing to have a blog/website for every business to get fame and profit. When you create your website, the first thing you want is to find your website in search engine results. There are many web search engines out there but when people want to find what they want at their fingertips, they simply prefer either the giant Google or Yahoo / Bing.

Before knowing the procedure to quickly index your website or blog in Google search results, I would like to explain what is indexing the web pages and how it works.

Search engine results

The most important tool that Google uses to index web pages is 'Googlebot'. Sometimes it is also called as 'Spider'.

Googlebot is a powerful and aggressive software which Google commands it to collect new information on the web in order to add it to the Google search results.

If your blog is not indexed on Google search results, it is because the Google Spider hasn't crawled your blog yet. Crawling is the process where the Spider moves from one web page to another or one website to another.

On finding a new web page, the bot will directly report the information available on the web back to Google.

Let's see how to get Google to index your blog and website in Google's search results.

1. Adding your website to Google webmaster tools

When you set up a website, the first thing which you should do is adding your website to Google Webmaster tools. As of May 20, 2015, Google re-branded Google Webmaster Tools as Google Search Console.

It allows the webmasters to check the indexing status and visibility of their blogs and websites. It helps to verify the ownership of their website and blog. It is completely a free web service powered by Google for webmasters.

2. Create a sitemap for your blog/website and submit it to Google Search Console

After adding your website to Search Console, you are required to add a sitemap for your blog and website. It notifies the search engine and lists your posts or articles in search results.

To add a sitemap for your blog to Google Webmaster Tools,
  • Go to 'Sitemaps' section in the Search Console.
  • Click on Add/Test Sitemap.

Now add the following code given below in the empty field to Add Sitemap.

atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=500

  • Finally, tap the 'Submit' button.

P.S: The above code works only if you are having less than 500 posts on your blog/website. If your posts count exceeds 500, please add one more code given below on sitemap text field by following the same procedure which is mentioned previously.

atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=501&max-results=1000

Congratulations! Now you've successfully added Sitemap to Google for your blog.

3. Share your blog posts

Publicize your website or blog posts to the topmost social media like Facebook, Twitter, Google plus, Pinterest, and Stumbleupon.

Create a separate profile for your new website on each social media platform. This will not only boost your page views but also quickly index your web pages on Google.

4. Submit URL to Google directly

Whenever you publish a post, submit URL of a new post to Google Search Console manually.

Submit URL

Enter the new post's URL in the field and click on 'Submit Request' as shown above in the image.

By doing this, you are forcing the Googlebot to crawl on your new web page and thus results in indexing them without fail.

UPDATE: Google has closed the Public URL Submission Tool.

Google will index your posts if you have already submitted a sitemap to Google search console. You could another tool called Fetch as Google.

Navigate to Search console > Select your preferred property/website > Crawl > Fetch as Google. Submit your URL and click Fetch.

Again it's up to Google bots decision whether to index your posts or not. Therefore, always publish quality content (useful and error-free content).

5. Setup RSS with Google's Feedburner

Feedburner is the Google's own RSS / Atom management tool. If you set up your RSS feed with Feedburner for your blog or website, it helps your loyal readers to subscribe to your blog and it will automatically send your blog posts to their email address.

Again, this not only drives traffic to your blog but also notifies Google by saying, "hey Google, index this page in search results".

Log into Google's Feedburner and enter your blog's URL in "Burn a feed" field.

6. Try Free Ping Services

Pingo-o-Matic is a free search engine service to update your new blog/website, posts to different search engines and triggers other search engines to execute your web pages.

This ping service is helpful for bloggers to submit their blog posts to show their existence. In addition to ping-o-Matic, carefully choose any other ping services because there are many low-quality ping services out there on the Internet which will badly affect your website's ranking on Google.

To Sum Up

Every webmaster wants to see their blog on the topmost search engine. You might have spent hours to write a post and published to see it on Google but what will happen if the post is not showing in search results?.

Try to write high-quality content for your blog and hit the publish button. Then follow all the steps which are mentioned in this post and look forward to seeing your posts being indexed on Google Search Engine.
